Our teachers

BKC Moscow gathers qualified teachers from many corners of the world. Our international team is the greatest value of the school. BKC Moscow welcomes educated and qualified teachers who have a desire to experience life in Russia. Many have been with us for several years, while others simply treat it as a “gap year”. Some of them arrive with not much more than a backpack, others come with their household goods and families. Our school has a high rate of return teachers.

For those who are keen to develop professionally BKC Moscow offers a vast choice of opportunities. Our school is renowned as a center for professional development. Along with BKC Teacher Training Center, strong ongoing professional support is provided by our Educational Management Team of Director and Assistant Directors of Studies.

Education

Our teachers usually hold a university degree in some sphere (humanitarian studies, physical sciences, law, etc.). An important requirement is a high level of linguistic competence enough to complete higher education and a requisite store of general knowledge necessary to be a credible teacher. BKC also requires a qualification in teaching German (French, Italian, Spanish) as a foreign language. We accept CLTA (IH Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults) or its equivalents. Beyond any doubts we welcome holders of higher qualifications like MA or PhD in teaching languages.

Our students

To create comfortable and motivating atmosphere for effective learning we elaborated specific courses for different age categories:

VYL (Very Young Learners) – for students of 3 to 6 years
Kids – 7 to 9 years
Juniours – 10 to 13 years
Teenagers – 14 to 16 years
Adults – 17 years and above

For each age group we choose best appropriate teaching materials and use most efficient teaching techniques. The school collected an extensive library of learning resources for all ages. We encourage our teachers to supplement regular course books with wide variety of available extra materials but also use and share their own ideas, which often results in the most outstanding professional achievements.

Our courses

Globus teaches all levels of laguages from absolute beginners to post-advanced. The levels are aligned to the internationally accepted scale defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In addition to the standard course programs, we also offer language courses for specific needs of our students: intensive and super-intensive study programs, business communication, preparation for international language certification and many more. We believe we can meet needs of every student and our team is ready to elaborate tailor made courses on demand.

Executive center

If you have business experience or experience in corporate education, you might be interested in teaching for the BKC IH Executive Centre. The Executive Centre runs in-company language training for some of Russia’s foremost businesses throughout Moscow. Our clients are lawyers, engineers, programmers, scientists, business managers and executives.

The groups are often small (usually 3 to 6 students), making it possible to give individual attention to each student.
With one-to-one clients, you have the opportunity to conduct a thorough needs analysis and customize your teaching according to the client's specific goals.

Challenges

Many clients are very talented and strongly motivated learners. They enjoy their language lessons, but can be demanding and have high expectations.
We work hard to place students in groups at the appropriate level. However, it is true worldwide that in-company groups are often have a wider range of levels than school groups.
In certain companies, business trips and urgent work commitments may affect class attendance.

Teacher development

As a part of BKC-IH Moscow, Globus has a strong reputation for teacher training and professional development of its teachers. We maintain the quality of our teaching by means of an extensive in-service support and well-balanced development program aimed at both newly-qualified and experiences teachers.

Seminars & Workshops

The school offers monthly teacher development sessions from experienced staff. All the seminars intend to give practical ideas as well as encourage to think more deeply and critically about teaching. The school runs a range of workshops which aim to help teachers improve their language awareness and knowledge in language teaching methodology and gain deeper understanding of specific teaching situations such as teaching young learners and exam classes.

Accredited teacher training courses

As a member of IH World we receive teacher education materials and run accredited courses leading to recognized qualifications, such as IHC YLT, IH FTBE, IH CAM, Delta.
