1. Application form
Applicants for the CELTA course must complete an application form and submit it to BKC-IH Moscow Teacher Training Centre by e-mail or in person. It should be filled in fully and carefully, with the use of grammar reference books where necessary. As places on the CELTA courses are limited, please send your application well in advance.
2. Language test
We will acknowledge your application as soon as possible and if your written application is satisfactory we will invite you to our office to take a language awareness test (for native English speakers) or an English language test (for non-native English speakers).
3. Interview (face-to-face or by Skype)
Your test will be checked straight away and if you pass it, you will have an interview with the course trainer.
If you are a long way away from Moscow we will e-mail you the test. If you pass it we will ask you to phone/Skype the course trainer at pre-arranged time for the interview.
Acceptance into the course is determined following the interview.
1. If, following the interview, you are accepted for a CELTA course, you should pay your deposit as soon as possible. We cannot reserve a place on the CELTA course until the deposit has been paid.
2. The balance of the fees must be paid at least four weeks before the start of the CELTA course. If you have not paid your fees by that date, you may lose your place.
The CELTA selection procedure includes: an application form, a written English language test and an interview with the course trainer. Acceptance onto the course is determined by the Centre.
The CELTA course includes inputs, teaching practice supervised by the course trainers, feedback, experienced teachers' observation, and a number of written assignments.
The deposit must be paid within 7 working days after the interview to secure a place on the course.
The balance and the Cambridge registration fee must be paid at least four weeks before the start of the CELTA course. If the Trainee has not paid the course fee by that date, the Trainee may lose their place.
a. The Trainee expected to attend the whole course. Absence from the course or an inappropriate attitude to it may jeopardize the Trainee's chances of successfully meeting the assessment criteria.
b. The Trainee is expected to submit all written assignments and lesson plans on time and to complete the scheduled teaching practice. Failure to do this will jeopardize the Trainee's chances of successfully meeting the assessment criteria or lower the Trainee's final grade.
The Trainee may request, via the centre, that a complete clerical check of their final grade is undertaken by Cambridge English Language Assessment, but the fees will not be reimbursed for reasons related to the Trainee's grade.
a. In the case of cancellations made earlier than four weeks before the start of the CELTA course, all fees will be refunded to the Trainee.
b. In the case of cancellations made later than four weeks before the start of the CELTA course but before the first day of the course, the balance and the Cambridge registration fee will be refunded. The deposit will not be refunded.
c. The Trainee can withdraw from the course, however they must do so in writing and the Centre will not refund the fees (except for cases mentioned in point 9 of this Disclaimer) or offer the Trainee a place on a subsequent course without payment of further fees.
In the event of a course being cancelled by the Centre all fees will be refunded.
If the Trainee's health changes during the course and they decide to withdraw from it, the Trainee will be reimbursed the balance with the deduction of the cost of the attended classes. The deposit will not be refunded. To claim the refund, the Trainee must show the relevant medical documents.
In the event that the Trainee is accepted on the course following an interview but is later deemed to be unacceptable for the teacher training course, the Centre reserves the right to remove the Trainee from the course and refund the course fees (exclusive of the Cambridge registration fee and any travel or living expenses incurred and school's resource materials involved) and deny access to further training on that course. The Centre reserves the right to do this only before 50% of the course has been completed, after which the Trainee will not be asked to leave the programme except in cases of gross misconduct.
In cases of gross misconduct (inappropriate behaviour towards students, teachers, trainers, or administrative staff, such as verbal abuse, threatening behaviour, sexual harassment, racial remarks) the Centre reserves the right to remove the Trainee from the course and the course fee will not be refunded.
The Centre is not responsible for objects left unattended on the Centre's premises.
All refunds are made on the above mentioned conditions only.
