Teaching at the Executive Centre

If you have experience with in-company classes, you might be interested in teaching for the BKC IH Executive Centre. The Executive Centre runs classes for company employees on the company’s premises. Our clients include some of Russia’s foremost companies.

Most of our courses are General English courses, supplemented with materials relevant to the students’ work. We also run Business English courses, and we have a significant and growing number of Italian and French groups.

Many of our students are professionals - lawyers, computer programmers, scientists, etc. Others are business managers and executives.

About 70% of our students study in small groups, and about 30% receive individual one-to-one tuition. The majority of our groups are at the intermediate, upper-intermediate and advanced levels.

Coursebooks and Materials

The standard coursebooks we use are:

• General English: Cutting Edge; English File; Inside Out

• Business English: Market Leader; Powerhouse; New Insights into Business

We are also fairly flexible about using non-standard books to meet the specific needs of particular groups.

There is a good library at the Executive Centre of supplementary materials for you to use with your in-company classes.

Teaching In-Company Classes

Teaching at the Executive Centre offers many rewards:

• The groups are usually very small, making it possible to give real individual attention to each student

• Students are professionals who often have a strong and immediate need for English. They are generally very pleasant to work with, and enjoy their English lessons. Many are talented language learners

• With one-to-one students, you can match your teaching exactly to the student’s needs. This is perhaps the most natural kind of teaching of all.

Executive Centre groups also have their own special challenges:

• We work hard to place students in groups at the right level. However, it is true worldwide that levels in in-company groups are often slightly more mixed than with school groups.

• In certain companies, business trips and urgent work commitments may affect attendance levels.

Overall, in-company students usually have a real practical need for their English, and are therefore among the most rewarding students to teach.
