Teachers' salary
Teachers' salary depends on their qualifications and experience. The cost of living in Russia is significantly lower than in Western countries. Add to that free accommodation, airfare reimbursement and health cover. And remember, our language school takes care of all taxation and utility bills. The starting salary we offer to newly qualified teachers is higher than the average income of middle-class Russians. A teacher can definitely lead a comfortable lifestyle anywhere in Russia, in a small town or in Moscow.
Russian Classes
If you are interested in an overseas teaching job specifically to learn a new language and a new culture, then Russia is for you!
All our English teachers have the opportunity of studying Russian in our BKC Globus School and enjoy a large discount. Even if you are not interested in learning Russian as a second language, we still offer Survival Russian courses to make everyday life easier.
We also recommend that before coming to Russia, English teachers learn the Russian alphabet and some basics to make the settling in process smoother. Enjoy the language lesson compiled by Tanya Martin, a senior English teacher.
Teacher Development
At BKC-IH we understand that starting a teaching job overseas can be an overwhelming experience.
Each newly qualified teacher is assigned a mentor to provide teaching guidance and support. Senior educational staff (like senior teachers or ADOSes) observes your teaching regularly and offer positive feedback to enable you to grow in your language teaching career.
Our language school is proud of the support and training system we have in place for our teachers.
There are monthly development seminars on a variety of topics, for example "Teaching pronunciation", "Activities for YL" and "Teaching through Video".
Our Teacher Training runs externally validated courses in teaching IH-YLC, IH-LAC, CELTA the Cambridge DELTA, as well as the Pre-Delta preparation course. There are discounts and incentive plan for teachers interested in the above courses.
Career Opportunities
Teaching overseas will change your life forever. Ensure that it's a positive change by choosing a language school interested in you and your dreams.
As the largest English language school in the former Soviet Union we can offer our language teachers excellent opportunities for career advancement.
Our Educational Management Team (EMT) consists of Senior Teachers, Assistant Directors of Studies and Directors of Studies. The EMT provides support for teachers and is constantly revising and improving our educational systems and procedures.
Although we do recruit senior staff from outside the company we believe strongly in internal promotion and if you are a dedicated English Language Teaching professional thinking about a senior position, this is definitely the school for you!
We are involved in the annual International House internal transfer system and this year teachers have transferred to IH teaching jobs in Portugal, Georgia, Mexico and Algeria. Our language school is rated highly by other ELT employers and former teachers and senior staff work all over the world for organisations like Bell and the British Council.
